National Film Challenge 2009

Now that I finally got a reasonable amount of sleep and I'm feeling slightly human again, I'm proud to announce that this past weekend, busy doing nothing productions completed our second short film as part of the National Film Challenge. For those of you unfamiliar with this challenge, those teams competing are given 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film that clocks in at a max of seven seconds. On Friday night at 7pm, each team is given a genre, a prop, a character, and a line of dialogue that all must be incorporated in the short.

In short, it was one hell of an experience. I don't know about the rest of the team, but this weekend really showed me what I am physically capable of if I really push myself to the limit. One of my biggest faults is lack of motivation, and nothing quite motivates you like having to produce something you're proud of within 48 hours. Not only do you have that external pressure of working with a group of people and satisfying them and not letting them down, but you have that pressure to really create something that lives up to your standards. I hate nothing more than to half-ass a job or put my name on something that I think is garbage, so I'm very happy to say that I can easily stamp my name on this one.

As soon as I get the color corrected version of the video back, I'll post it up on YouTube for the internets to injest. Until then, I will tell you that it is called "Taking Charge." and that it involves two unemployed women who take charge of their circumstances and become dominatrixes.

Hopefully I've piqued your interest.
